Ending the season

Bridlington didn'y go to much to plan. Pretty dire wind conditions meant that the comp was run in little or no wind. On my biggest kite i struggled in the prelimenaries to even stay in the area. I got back int o the final but again the wind was poor. Comming third over all i was not happy with my performance. But i was more unhappy about the conditions the girls were being put out in. Anyway on to the trip i had been looking forward to. IRELAND.

Ireland was fantastic we covered a staggering 2500miles in 13days but got good sailing on 11 of them. The sun shown for the entire trip and we visited some incredible spots on the route including. DINGLE,ACHILL ISLAND,BELLMULLET,LINCH,ROSSLARE. Basically we went everywhere.I would strongly recommened it for a trip. Ferries are quite reasonable about £120 for a van each way.

Fraserburgh 31st Septmber
The Fraserburgh National Wave Masters was fantastic. Just the conditions i wanted Port Tack fantastic down the line sailing in a stonking wind which at times was a little to much for my 5m gusting upto about 50mph. The waves were mast high+ in the biggest sets which absolutely delighted me. The rest of the competition struggled to get out the back. I was loving it.Getting some great wave riding action in Sc0tland.Mark and Maggie made it a great event for everyone. The prize money situation was a bit of a sore point with the Pro men walking away with the entire prize fund and the Women receiving nothing. Not Exceptable!!!HOpefully this will not happen in the future. So i was Crowned British Wave Masters Champion 2009

Recar Oct 8
Straight after the SCotland event was Redcar and the freestyle finals. Again it started ok with me going through to the finals. But yet again the ladies final was run in bad conditions. So bad in fact that the mens competition was abandoned at the last heat. Why was ours run? Anyway the result already stood from the previous events and Hannah took the title this year and i finished 2nd in Freestyle. Its great this year because the level of the other girls is being
raised all the time and i have pressure to push myself. Next year will be very interesting with Holly Kennedy and Nicky Rudd improving so much this year as well. I have lots of work to do over the winter.

Updates for the last 4 months which feel like 4 weeks.

LOng time no blog.
I have been very bad at updating this blog page but that is going to change now!!!!

May-Spent the month of May on Tiree at home doing lots of kiting and generally loving my wave board it was fantastic!!!!Unfortunately i was un able to attend the first round of the BKSA but never mind. I managed to claw my way back into fist position again in July as you will find out.

June-I went across the sea to SYLT in Germany for the first round of the KPWT which was fantastic. Got great conditions and had a good result comming 3rd in the dingle illiminations final and then comming 4th overall. Very pleased as it was my best freestyle result in the world. A few days later i came back and my whole life was turned upside down.

July-At the beginning of July my brother was tragically killed in a fast jet accident during a training exercise. This devestating news has shatterred our familys life and i have lost my only brother. I miss him very much and think about him constantly. He was the driving force behind me trying to make kitesurfing my profession and did everything he could to support me. He wasn't just a normal brother or a regular guy he was very special to alot of people and he will never be forgotten.Hopefully he's flying on up there , love you and miss you K

There isn't anything worse in life than a loved one being taken from you and when it happens your whole life is put into a new prospective. It was extremely difficult to get back into a regular routine and even now 3 months down the line it feels like its never going to return to normal.I decided that he would say that i should try to turn the negative into the posotive and try to continue. The competion season was in full swing and the last conversion i had with my brother was about when and where the next meet was. So i have continued to compete. I went HUnstanton and finished 2nd in the BKSA tour. My plans to continue with the KPWT changed as i felt i didnt want to leave the UK at this time. I then had the next meet in Barrow and furness to look on too.

August- Barrow and Furness was a great comp for me. I won the comp overall and my fellow scottish competator Holly Kennedy got on the podium so i was absolutely thrilled for her. Then a few weeks later it was on the road again this time down to Blackpool. Unfortunately my good dortune which had done me so well in Barrow did not continue over to Blackpool. It was super windy and extremely on shore conditions. I ended up in a sticky situation in the first heat injuring my foot and having to retire early from the competiton. Better luck next time i hope. The next event is on FRiday so will have to try to be fully fit by then. We will see.

September-Bridlington starts on FRiday and i have a 10 day trip to the dingle area of southern ireland planned to catch some swell weve been watching in the atlantic . Heres hopeing we catch it right.
